Why Dictate stays small
Most dictation is a sentence or a paragraph into whatever app you're in. For that, the best interface is no interface: a key you hold. Dictate spends its effort there — the model is warmed up at launch so the first word isn't clipped, recording keeps going for a beat after you release so the last word isn't cut, and substitutions fix the names it mishears.
When Superwhisper is the better choice
- You want different modes (email, notes, code) with their own AI prompts.

No. Dictate uses NVIDIA's Parakeet TDT v3 (a post-trained "Ultra" version), a fast, accurate speech model for European languages. Whisper covers more languages; Parakeet is typically much faster on Apple Silicon for the languages it supports.
